How to Transfer Domain Name Ownership (for gTLD Domains)

If you need to transfer ownership of your gTLD domain (like .com, .net, or .org), follow the simple steps below.

NOTE. If you're managing a ccTLD domain (like .sg or .au), a separate change of ownership process is required. Click here for the steps.

Important reminder from ICANN: Any changes to the First Name, Last Name, Organization Name, or Email Address on your domain registration are considered ownership changes and will need to be verified by both the current and new registrant.

Steps to Transfer Domain Ownership:

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Locate your domain and click Manage
  3. Navigate to the Administration tab in the top menu.
  4. In the Registrant Contact section, hover over the details and click Change Owner
  5. Make the necessary changes, then click Save Changes
  6. Carefully read the confirmation prompt and click Send Authorization Request
  7. Check both the current and new registrant email inboxes for the verification email.
  8. Click the link in the email to approve and complete the transfer.

NOTE. When updating ownership details, you may choose to opt out of the 60-day transfer lock during the verification process. This allows you to transfer your domain to another registrar without waiting 60 days.

Congratulations! You have just transferred your Domain Name Ownership to a new Registrant.
